Our focus is to demonstrate the conscious side of all genres of music as a tool to demolish racial and social boundaries, while presenting a platform for the raw uncensored views of the underground scene. This emphasis is directed towards the uniting of our urban youth, and allowing them the opportunity to understand and undertake a progressive opinion of the social and political environment of the world around them.
The organization of the WE THE PEOPLE festival was conceived due to a great need for a stimulant in social awareness and an encompassing platform within the urban community to inspire the involvement and active participation of the conscious youth populous throughout the country.

While providing a vastly artistic and intellectually satisfying array of talent at the concert series, The WE THE PEOPLE festival’s primary objective involves reaching out to the myriad of organizations, groups, like-minded promotion firms, and of course artists, in order to conceive the greatest arena in which to engage and then garner participation from a grossly uninformed youth audience, including all other age groups affected by contemporary matters that involve our communities.

By in large, the WE THE PEOPLE festival aspires to continue to promote and suggest a much needed platform that calls for a voice for the youth of our nation and those artists they credit with acknowledging their daily struggles within the environments that surround them, socially, culturally and politically.

It’s Hammer Time at the 4th annual “We the People” Music, Arts & Cultural Festival.

LOS ANGELES, Ca. -For the second year in a row, the highly acclaimed “Art is a Hammer” exhibit will take place at this year’s “We the People” Music, Arts & Cultural Festival, located at the famous Los Angeles Center Studios in the heart of beautiful downtown Los Angeles.

The collaborative project will feature talented artists such as Yo!Peace, and the unveiling of the first sculpture ever created by Mear, who is commonly referred to as the “Michelangelo of graffiti”. The Unification Theory will feature a uniquely improvised art experience created by members Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca, Mann One and Overton Loyd. Other artists include Vyal, Spectr, Contra , Karen “The Fury”, John Miner, Phix Medium, Robert Vargas, John Parks, as well as live screen printing by Grow Your Own MEDIA.

Each year, our coalition of artists gather together at the “We the People” Festival to bring their unique style of artistry, often described as fine art mashed up with raw street expression. “Art is a hammer” is not a usual art exhibit; from the smashed wreckage something beautiful is forged. Most of the work is improvised live in front of the crowds and contains social and political conscious works, as well as peaceful alternatives to war. Attendees are encouraged to bring their cameras.

The 4th Annual “We the People” Music, Arts & Cultural Festival will take place on Saturday November 21, 2009. Headliners include Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies, Pepper, Madvillain, The Glitch Mob, Flobots, and a very special live DJ Set by Will. I. AM. of the Black Eyed Peas. In addition to Art is a Hammer there will be a kids’ corner (children under the age of ten get in for free), cultural dancers, socially conscious speakers, and so much more!
